Improve Your Scholarly Presence
As a scholar, you will likely be asked to make statements about the impact of your work for purposes ranging from funding, assessment, promotion, to accountability. The impact may focus on the demonstrable “effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment or quality of life, beyond academia” (REF, 2014). Research outcomes like a dataset, patent, journal article, report, book chapter, conference poster, etc. are all products in which impact can be assessed.
From August 23rd to August 27th, the Lane Library will be leading a Research Impact Challenge. The Research Impact Challenge is designed to engage Stanford students and researchers to better manage their scholarly presence and the impact of their work.
During this challenge, we will be emailing daily instructions for completing a short activity over the course of one week. Each activity will take no more than a few minutes and can stand alone and be completed separately at a time that is convenient for you.
These daily activities will help you:
- Curate your online scholarly and professional presence
- Share data and other research outputs
- Self-achieve publications to increase discoverability and open access
- Receive feedback on your work or work-in-progress
- Leverage social media to make connections and promote your work
