The Lane Medical Library is pleased to introduce the Open Science Reading Group, a virtual discussion group intended to bring together members of the Stanford Medicine community to learn about open science.
Introducing the Open Science Reading Group
Open science is an umbrella term that covers efforts to make scientific research broadly accessible. This includes open access to scientific publications, research data sharing, and a whole host of other activities and initiatives. Each month, the Open Science Reading Group will meet to discuss readings on a specific aspect of open science. The group is hosted by John Borghi, Research Services Librarian Manager at Lane Medical Library.
Anyone at Stanford interested in learning about open science, discussing the application of open science practices in a biomedical context, and/or meeting other members of the community who are interested in (or already are) incorporating open science practices into their work is welcome to attend. Please register to receive the Zoom link for the meeting.
The initial meeting on September 17 begins with an introduction to open science. The introduction will include a brief overview of open science followed by a discussion. The reading materials can be found on the group website.
