Love Data Week 2025 at Stanford University: Whose Data Is It, Anyway?

Lane Library is excited to celebrate Love Data Week 2025, an annual event dedicated to the importance of data as being the foundation for scientific research, discovery, and innovations in medicine. This year’s theme, “Whose Data Is It, Anyway?”, invites the SOM community and beyond to explore the ethical dimensions of data ownership, privacy rights, and open access while reflecting on the collective responsibility of researchers in handling data ethically.

Lane Library’s Contributions to Love Data Week

Lane Library is committed to supporting Stanford Medicine’s research community through data publishing, classes for data visualization and presentation, and expert guidance in data management. During Love Data Week, we invite you to participate in our workshops and explore our data management tools to enhance your research profile.

Data as the Foundation of Wisdom

DIKW Pyramid (Data, Information, Knowledge, Wisdom)

Data is the foundation of knowledge and wisdom. The DIKW Pyramid (Data, Information, Knowledge, Wisdom) illustrates the transformation of raw data into meaningful insights that drive scientific progress. At Stanford Medical School, we strive to turn data into wisdom and apply it for the common good. Join us in fostering a deeper understanding of data ethics, sharing, and management to ensure research serves society effectively and responsibly.
