New Library Entry Policy

Beginning April 13, Lane Library entrance doors will be card-access only. All School of Medicine (SOM) affiliates, including MD and PA students, and hospital employees must swipe their SOM or hospital badges at the outside card reader to enter the library during open business hours. The card reader is located on the concrete column in front of the entrance. Signage will provide guidance. Outside of business hours, the library will remain closed to everyone.

Stanford University (SU) ID cards and Stanford Mobile IDs do not work on SOM card readers. SU ID cardholders are welcome to visit Lane Library, but will need to press the intercom button above the card reader to speak with library staff for entry. Once inside, you will need to show your SU ID card or mobile ID to library staff.
