Participate in Love Data Week 2021

Love Data Week is an international celebration of data that aims to raise awareness and build a community to engage on topics related to research data management, sharing, preservation, reuse, and library-based research data services.

The theme for this year’s virtual event is Data: Delivering a Better Future. ICPSR, the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, is overseeing the week’s events. You can explore ICPSR’s schedule of webinars and adopt a data set on their website.

At Lane Library, we are celebrating the Love Data Week with our Introduction to Research Data Management class on February 9th at 10 am.

In the class, we discuss how to properly store, organize, and document your work to ensure that important data isn’t lost and that you are meeting expectations set by the parties that fund and publish your research. After this session, you’ll have the tools required to assess your current data management practices, information about how to advance your practices as necessary or desired, and an understanding of some of the data-related resources available to you through Stanford Medicine.

We also encourage you to deposit a dataset in Dryad, an open and curated general-purpose repository of research data. Through Lane Library, Stanford has an institutional membership with Dryad, meaning that affiliated researchers can submit and publish their research data free of charge.

Finally, learn more about events happening across the research community by following the #LoveData21 hashtag on Twitter.
